Sammy Braxton-Haney
Sammy Braxton-Haney is a Bay Area street and event photographer. They started shooting in high school in the 70's and became a primary photographer for their college yearbook in Atlanta, GA, in the first half of the 80's. Immediately after college, they began shooting for newspapers in the metro Atlanta area, and then for the Tahoe Daily Tribune in South Lake Tahoe, CA. Following an extended break from the camera, in 2014, their daughter got into the music program at Northgate High School in Walnut Creek, CA. Sammy volunteered their time photographing a multitude of high school music events, and with that, they entered the world of digital photography.
Currently, Sammy is the photographer for Downtown First Thursdays in San Francisco and volunteered for approximately 6 years photographing Oakland First Fridays. They are a regular contributor to online music magazine, The Big Takeover, as well as covering club and theater shows for various public relations agencies. They have also shot a large number of LGBTQ events, including being an official photographer for the San Francisco Pride parade. Sammy and their wife live in Walnut Creek, CA.
