Salt printing uses salt and silver nitrate to produce a light sensitive emulsion. Learn the basics of this historical process, including making and coating light sensitive emulsion on paper and exposing with UV light.

This two day advanced workshop is reserved for registered users of the EBPCO darkroom who want to take their printing to the next level. You'll learn techniques to work more efficiently and effectively in the darkroom to get consistently good prints.

It’s Photo Walk Time!

We will be meeting on the first Sunday of the month. Bring any camera you like, and be prepared to wander and shoot for up to an hour.

EBPCO’s bimonthly photo walks are a great way to connect with other photographers while exploring and photographing an interesting Oakland location.

Our photo walks are free and OPEN TO ALL! Bring your camera(s) and your creativity. All cameras welcome, including phones.

We’re partnering with local roaster Rasa Caffe for this workshop, where participants will learn to process film with homemade Caffenol developer made from coffee. Includes a delicious cup of coffee from Rasa Caffe!

Join us on Friday, January 24th from 6-8 PM for the closing reception of Momentum, a captivating photography exhibition that celebrates the beauty, energy, and emotion of movement in our world. The evening will feature a special presentation by guest curator Malcolm Wallace, who will share insights into his journey as a photographer and the inspirations behind the exhibition's theme. Following his talk, Malcolm will be joined by six featured artists for an engaging Q&A session, providing a deeper look into the stories, techniques, and emotions behind the works on display. Learn to manipulate and transfer Polaroid film onto paper or glass, create collages out of polaroids, and safely experiment with everyday chemicals found in the pantry to create unconventional polaroid images.

An experienced photo editor will guide you through the basics of photo story and project editing. You’ll learn how to build narrative, visually-led stories from an existing body of work and gain a deeper understanding of the narrative editing process to apply to your own projects.

Learn to print on fabric, tone prints with botanicals, and print with a DIY UV exposure unit. Participants will be asked to send in images to the instructor ahead of the workshop.

Chemigrams are images made by painting chemicals and other liquids onto light sensitive paper.
