Chemigrams are made by painting chemicals onto light sensitive photo paper. In this one day workshop, we’ll experiment with a variety of materials including standard photo chemistry, oils, waxes, jellies, vinegars, and more to create one of a kind chemigram prints. Sign up at ebpco.org/workshops

Darkroom Print Finishing

4 week class for those who are comfortable shooting 35mm film but have no previous experience in a black & white darkroom. An instructor will guide you through the basics of darkroom processes, including film processing, contact printing, and enlargement printing.

Brew Your Own Film Developer: Plant-Based
Discover the time-honored technique of developing film negatives with the power of plants! In this one day workshop, participants will work with developer brews made from California native and non-native plants. Sign up at ebpco.org/workshops

Intro to Lighting

Cyanotype Printing
Cyanotype is a photographic printing process that uses the sun to produce a cyan blueprint. In this one-day workshop, learn both the fundamentals of the process and experimental techniques, producing photograms using natural objects, photographs using digital negatives, and toned prints. Wet Plate Collodion
Wet Plate Collodion involves coating a plate with collodion and silver nitrate. While still wet, the plate is exposed in camera and processed directly following exposure. Intro to Adobe Lightroom
For beginners with an Adobe Lightroom subscription. In this workshop, an instructor will guide you through the basics of editing images using Lightroom, including importing image files, editing individual images, sorting and editing multiple images, and exporting image files. Printing with Liquid Emulsion
Liquid emulsion is the light sensitive coating normally found on darkroom photo paper in a bottle! It can be applied to a wood, fabric, ceramic, and more, allowing black & white images to be made on the surface of just about any object. Sign up at ebpco.org/workshops

Pinhole Photography
Participants will learn how to construct their own pinhole cameras utilizing recycled everyday materials and use silver gelatin paper to create black and white prints directly from the cameras they built. Sign up at ebpco.org/workshops

Salt Printing
Salt printing uses salt and silver nitrate to produce a light sensitive emulsion. Learn the basics of this historical process, including making and coating light sensitive emulsion on paper and exposing with UV light.

Brew Your Own Film Developer: Caffenol
We’re partnering with local roaster Rasa Caffe for this workshop, where participants will learn to process film with homemade Caffenol developer made from coffee. Includes a delicious cup of coffee from Rasa Caffe!

Closing Reception: EBPCO's 2024 Member's Exhibition
Join us on Friday, January 24th from 6-8 PM for the closing reception of Momentum, a captivating photography exhibition that celebrates the beauty, energy, and emotion of movement in our world. The evening will feature a special presentation by guest curator Malcolm Wallace, who will share insights into his journey as a photographer and the inspirations behind the exhibition's theme. Following his talk, Malcolm will be joined by six featured artists for an engaging Q&A session, providing a deeper look into the stories, techniques, and emotions behind the works on display. This weekend will be your final opportunity to see the images in person at our gallery space! If you are unable to attend, you can check out the exhibition (including an additional 11 images) here.

Polaroid Manipulation
Learn to manipulate and transfer Polaroid film onto paper or glass, create collages out of polaroids, and safely experiment with everyday chemicals found in the pantry to create unconventional polaroid images.

Advanced Cyanotype: Textile Printing & Botanical Toning
This advanced workshop is reserved for those who’ve taken our cyanotype workshops or have their own previous cyanotype experience!
