Bob Shonkoff
Bob Shonkoff’s photography goes back to his teens, chronicling the experience that was Brooklyn, before heading off to formally study Cinema and Photography at Ithaca College. The next four decades were spent adulting in the business of mass media, from The Boston Globe to NBC, until a life lesson was learned… if your dream gets put on the back burner, keep it simmering, stir occasionally, and serve as soon as you can. With an observational style, Bob is influenced by the New York School of photographers, but it is Sebastiao Salgado’s words that guide him: “I don’t believe a person has a style. What people have is a way of photographing what is inside them. What is there comes out.”
